About Philo Photography
Behind the Lens
I’m Jackie Mills, owner and photographer of Philo Photography. I have had a camera in my hand since I was 13 years old and I absolutely love to find new ways of capturing the beauty of the world around me.
After a decade of having photography as a hobby, I decided during the pandemic to try and turn it into something more. I started offering “front porch shoots” to families during quarantine as a way to make some extra money and hone my craft. I found taking portraits to be an amazing way of connecting with others, especially during such an isolating time in the world, and wanted to find a way to make it a permanent part of my life. Thus, Philo Photography was born!
Today, you’ll find that I have a wide range of coverage with this brand. Mainly, I aim to find artistry in nature and portraits, capturing the natural narrative of a scene. From professional-grade headshots to documenting a historic march on the National Mall, I believe that every moment holds a story worth capturing.
The "Philo Feel"
Philo Photography is named after a mountain by my house in Vermont, where I often practiced my photography growing up. The word Philo means “beloved” or “loving”, which are exactly the types of images that I want to capture through my lens.
My photography style has been described as warm, bright, natural, and emotive.
I love to be able to call this brand a fusion of art and heart. Through the emotions of the moment and the natural setting of my shoots, I aim to seamlessly blend the magnificence of nature with the personal narrative of my clients.
